Dutch store

January 2, 2010 - We knew it was there, we’d heard that already, but until know we hadn’t found it yet – the Dutch store. What do you mean, a Dutch store? Well, of course there are always a couple of crazy Dutch that can’t do without original Dutch products. And, there is always some idiot who is willing to start a store in those products. Although the origin of this shop is somewhat different, they do sell all kinds of Dutch products. And because we were in Winnipeg on December 28th to bring the rental car back, we could visit this store too.

The store is situated in a suburban area, but if you enter the store you seriously believe to be in a (somewhat dated) Dutch supermarket. Complete with Euroshopper products of Albert Heijn, gingerbread and cinnamon cookies on sale (Sinterklaas is over) and fresh products like smoked horsemeat, liverworst, appletwisters and chocolate cream puffs. We didn’t buy a whole lot, first because the prices are rather high and because these products will be included in the shipment with our personal belongings. Quite important: keep an eye on the expiration date, because not all is recent. Luckily the layer of dust on the jar or bottle tells it is close to the expiration date.
