Bought a car

January 2, 2010 - The car search has ended. We surfed the internet, went to several dealers, made testdrives and asked the folks that live here hundreds of questions, before we finally found this car: a 1999 Ford Explorer (more pictures will be added to the picturebook soon).

It has a 4.0 liter 6-cylinder engine, has room for 5 persons plus the household of a midsize house and it has an automatic 4x4 drivetrain. Despite the fact that prices for four-wheel drive cars are considerably higher than for regular cars, we managed to buy this one from a private person. And believe me, a four-wheel drive is not a luxury with all the snow covered roads here.

The most luxurious option is a command start (I’m not kidding, it actually starts by pushing a button). This makes it possible to start the car and thereby the heater without leaving the house. At -30 that can be quite comfortable.
