December 3, 2009 - We just arrived in the hotel in Winnipeg, after a total trip of 20 hours.
It was a combination of waiting, then running fast and showing lots of paperwork. The boys did very well in the airplane to Chicago, the service was perfect during this long flight. In the USA we walked a long way to pick up the suitcases, then waited at the customs desk, checked in our luggage again and then finally ran to make it to the connecting flight.
The connecting flight was a lot shorter, the boys were getting a little rowdy, but luckily we landed on time. More walking to get through customs and on to immigration with lots and lots of papers to be signed and looked at. Then one more stop at customs to declare the goods to follow and then it was done. Unfortunately our suitcases hadn’t arrived..... More papers to fill in and then off to the hotel with only carry-on luggage, a temperature of -8 and snow blowing through the streets.
Believe it or not, as I am busy writing this post I just received a call (really!) that the suitcases have arrived with the next flight and that they will be brought to the hotel reception :-)
I’m calling it a day, we’re going to bed. Greetings from the officially in Canada landed Smit family.
