School starts at 08.55 and if we arrive Cisco runs off to the playground which is extra atractive, because there is a lot of snow to play in. After the schoolbell, take all the snowclothing off, rack your snowshoes (there is a spot reserved with his name on it) and off to class you go. During the announcements over the speaker they even mention his name: "Welcome Cisco to our school and everybody let’s help Cisco to feel at home."
We take some pictures and are happy to see that his table (with his name on it) is placed right next to Toon. Toon is Dutch by origin and can translate for him. There are a little over 20 kids in his class and he has two teachers: mr. Willows and mr. Graham. They are taught math, grammar, word games and gymnastics. They have gymnastics every day, something that Cisco doesn’t mind at all.
At lunchtime kids can go home or stay over and eat lunch at the canteen. Cisco is staying over, because we’re in Brandon arranging things. After lunch it’s class again till 15.30, and then we pick him up. He is still smiling when he gets out of class, so today went well. Toon is very tired though from Cisco’s questions. But the teacher complimented Cisco for the fact that he understands and even speaks English a little. Well that’s good to hear.
Finally we leave with an invitation for the annual Christmas concert and can truly state that Cisco has done fantastic on his First day. We’re very proud of him!
