To the hospital in Winnipeg

March 26, 2010 - In addition to Cisco his first visit to the hospital (see post of January 18), it was time for the yearly checkup of his heart on March 26 (note: chemotherapy medication can weaken the heartmuscle, that's why). It wasn't possible to do that right away last time, because the specialists are not all in one big building like we were used to in Amsterdam. So separate appointments and separate trips to Winnipeg.

The trip went well, we're getting used to the long distances that are unmistakenly present in this country and on the way we enjoyed some of our homemade raisin buns. We found a parking garage, reported to the reception and – which isn't any different than The Netherlands – did lots of waiting. The standard data like weight, length and blood pressure were quickly examined, but after that we were glad there were some things to do in the waiting room for kids to play with.

When it was Cisco's turn, he was hooked up to the heartmonitor (ECG) with all kinds of wires. He didn't really enjoy that of course, but he did well, even if it was only for his little brother who watched him very closely. Good job!
After that, more waiting 'till it was time for the next exam, an ultrasound of the heart. Cisco had to lay on a hospital bed in various unpleasant poses, so that the specialist could have the best possible image with her ultrasound. Luckily he found that quite interesting, despite the very uncomfortable poses and thorough exam.

Finally the last exam by the doctor who had nothing else to add then the fact that Cisco was doing very well – YES! And we, of course, are very proud of our big little man, who withstood the whole day without a single complaint. Super Cisco, you're our number 1!
