January 18, 2010 - Oh yes, there is a lot of things going on.
First of all, I'm very busy finding a job, but since 75% of all jobs are not listed but filled by word-of-mouth, you have to go out there. So apart from sending out my resume, we speak to a lot of people, we visit places, stay for dinner or have a drink with them. Networking I believe they call it and perhaps you meet with someone who can help you get one step further in the right direction.
Secondly, we heard that there are a lot more houses for rent and for lower prices too. Again networking is the key word, so we've been asking around and have been offered information on other rental properties. This time we're not looking at a part of a house, but a complete house with 3 bedrooms, a much bigger living room, separate kitchen and dining room, a large basement and a garage. And for less money! So we're very busy consulting with our landlord to stop renting our current place and besides that we're negotiating with other people on renting a new one.
Third of all, we finally start to integrate by getting to know our neighbours and other people in town (and they're getting to know us). That's very nice, because the're the most friendly people and really like to help you out (networking!). And because we're new, they like meeting us and we enjoy how easy it is to make new friends here.
So, to answer many peoples questions on were the new messages are: there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and hopefully the first results will pay off soon.
