Christmas concert at school

December 15, 2009 - Tuesday and Wednesday there is a Christmas concert at school from all classes of Cisco his elementary school. His classmates have been practicing for weeks, so Cisco can’t sing along, but they dance too and that he can do well. They are playing the story from The Wizard of Oz, but they as a Christmas story. The entrance is free, but you are supposed to buy a program (dumb Dutch folks don’t know that) and with that money they will renew the school playground.

The gym is full of parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters and it is a sweet show including all the usual funny “mistakes” that happen when kids perform. And Cisco (something we hear afterwards) enters the stage to go even a step further, because despite the fact that he didn’t have to participate in a specific part of their class performance, he still goes on stage and dances along with his classmates. His teacher is amazed by the ease and freedom with which Cisco performs on stage.

After the show everybody goes home directly, though we do meet a few very friendly people who live in Rivers as well and who give us a warm welcome. It truly is a country where people aren’t surprised by a new family, because it’s welcome here and welcome there. Very warm and friendly. We are extremely proud of Cisco and we won’t be surprised if he may ever turn out to be an actor.
